2026年 マンスフィールド–PhRMA研究者プログラム 参加者募集
（ワシントンD.C.）マンスフィールド財団は、2026年「マンスフィールド–PhRMA研究者プログラム」の参加者募集を開始しました。
2013年に開始された本プログラムは、米国研究製薬工業協会（PhRMA）の支援のもと実施されています。日本の医薬品研究開発分野における若手または中堅研究者を米国に派遣し、トランスレーショナル・リサーチに重点を置きながら、米国の医療政策について学ぶ機会を提供するもので、今年で12期目を迎えます。
今後数か月をかけて、日本の国公立研究機関、大学、および関連機関に所属する日本人研究者8名を選考します。応募者は、それぞれの専門分野における実績があり、数年の研究経験および修士号以上の学位（望ましくは博士号または同等の資格）を有していることが求められます。なお、本プログラムは製薬企業の社員は対象外です。
プログラムに選出された研究者は、2026年9月13日から9月27日までの2週間、米国を訪問し、会議や視察に参加します。滞在中は、ワシントンD.C.、フィラデルフィア、ボストンにおいて、各分野のシニア専門家と情報やベストプラクティスを共有します。帰国後は、日本の同僚と学びを共有し、その経験を自身の業務に生かすとともに、日本の研究開発（R&D）政策改革や医療イノベーションの推進に実践的な形で貢献することが期待されます。
本プログラムは、研究者が自身のキャリアを見つめ直し、将来の方向性を再考する機会を提供してきました。ある参加者は、「この経験は、かけがえのない学びと自己省察の機会を与えてくれました。そもそもなぜ自分が研究を行っているのかを改めて見つめ直すきっかけとなりました」と述べています。別の参加者は、「研究そのものではなく、目的を持った研究というトランスレーショナルなアプローチこそが、自分の使命であると今では考えています」と語っています。
また昨年のプログラム終了後、ある参加者は次のように述べています。
「マンスフィールド–PhRMA研究者プログラムの最終日、これまでボストンでポスドクとして過ごした3年間よりも、この2週間のほうがさらに充実し、濃密な時間だったと感じました。」

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR
2026 MANSFIELD-PHRMA RESEARCH SCHOLARS PROGRAM
(Washington, DC) The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation is pleased to announce recruitment for the 2026 Mansfield-PhRMA Research Scholars Program.
This unique program, launched in 2013 and sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), brings young and/or mid-career researchers from Japan’s pharmaceutical research and development field to the United States to learn about U.S. healthcare policy, with a focus on translational research.
In the months ahead, the Mansfield Foundation will select eight Japanese researchers from Japanese national institutes and private universities or university-affiliated institutions to participate in the 2026 program. Applicants should be recognized experts in their areas of focus with several years of professional experience as well as a graduate degree, preferably a PhD or its equivalent. The program is not open to employees of pharmaceutical firms.
Researchers selected for the program will travel to the United States for two weeks of meetings and site visits from September 13 to September 27, 2026. During the exchange, they will share information and best practices with senior experts in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and Boston. When they return to Japan, they will be expected to share what they learned with their Japanese colleagues, to put the experience to use in their work, and to contribute to Japan’s R&D policy reforms and medical innovation in a practical way.
This program has helped transform the way researchers think about and navigate their careers. One scholar noted that the experience “provided me with invaluable learning and self-reflection. It reminded me to reexamine why I conduct research in the first place.” Another added, “I now see this translational approach—not research alone, but research with purpose—as my professional mission.”
Following last year’s program, a scholar shared that, “on the final day of the Mansfield–PhRMA Research Scholars Program, I felt that these two weeks were even more fulfilling and intense than the three years I spent in Boston during my postdoctoral fellowship.”
