マンスフィールド–PhRMA研究者プログラム 第１２期参加者決定のお知らせ
（ワシントンD.C.）モーリーン・アンド・マイク・マンスフィールド財団はマンスフィールド-PhRMA研究者プログラムの第１２期生として選出された参加者を以下に発表します。本プログラムでは、日米交流と創薬分野の研究者のキャリア育成を目的に、日本の医薬分野の若手および中堅の研究者を米国に招へいします。第１２期スカラーの８名は、２０２６年９月に２週間の米国研修ツアーに参加し、ワシントンD.C.、フィラデルフィア、ボストンにおける関連機関への訪問を通じて、トランスレーショナル・リサーチ（橋渡し研究）、医療政策、薬事行政について実践的に学びます。
２０１３年に創設された本プログラムは、米国研究製薬工業協会（PhRMA）の支援を受けて実施されており、２０２６年度（第１２期）には、医薬品開発に携わる研究者８名に加え、国立研究開発法人日本医療研究開発機構（AMED）、独立行政法人医薬品医療機器総合機構（PMDA）、経済産業省（METI）より、３名のオブザーバーが参加する予定です。

参加者一行は、米国政府の医薬研究プログラムの責任者や、基礎研究の商業化を橋渡しするトランスレーショナル研究の専門家など、上級専門家と交流します。そして、帰国後は米国で学んだことを日本の関係者と共有し、日本の研究開発（R&D）政策改革に実践的に貢献することが期待されています。
マンスフィールド財団は、米国歳入法501（c）3条によって認可された米国・アジアにおける理解と協力を促進する民間の非営利団体です。当財団は、モンタナ州選出の上院議員、多数党院内総務、駐日米国大使として、その生涯を通じて、２０世紀の重要な国内外の問題で重要な役割を果たしたマイク・マンスフィールド大使（1903-2001年）を称え、1983年に設立されました。マイク・マンスフィールド大使とモーリーン夫人が米国とアジア各国との関係について抱いた価値観、理想、ビジョンは、財団の交流、政策対話、研究および教育プログラムに受け継がれ、米国およびアジアのリーダー間のネットワークを生み出し、公共政策に影響を与える根本的な問題を探求し、米国のアジアの国々や人々に対する意識向上につながっています。当財団の事務所はワシントンDC、東京、モンタナ州ミズーラにあります。

TWELFTH COHORT OF MANSFIELD-PhRMA RESEARCH SCHOLARS ANNOUNCED
(Washington, D.C.) The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of the twelfth cohort of the Mansfield-PhRMA Research Scholars Program. This international exchange and professional development opportunity brings young and mid-career pharmaceutical researchers from Japan to the United States to learn about translational research, healthcare policy, and regulatory practices through site visits in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Boston. The twelfth cohort will participate in a two-week study tour in September 2026.
The 2026 Mansfield-PhRMA program will include eight researchers from Japan’s pharmaceutical research community and three observers from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). This program was launched in 2013 and is sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

The delegation will meet with senior experts in major pharmaceutical research programs, including managers of pharmaceutical research programs in the U.S. government and experts on translating research into commercial opportunities. Upon their return to Japan, the researchers will be expected to share what they learned during the program with their Japanese colleagues and to contribute to Japan’s research and development (R&D) policy reforms in a practical way.
The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that promotes understanding and cooperation in U.S.-Asia relations.
